My publishers, The Other Publishing Company, are looking for a few more short stories to complete a volume of new writing that they will be releasing soon. I’ve written a couple of stories for it and they’ve signed up three or four other writers but they’re keen to see ideas from other people. If you’re interested you should drop them an email at the address below. No need to send the story yet or send them a synopsis or anything at this stage, just say you’re interested in submitting a story and they’ll email you back a submissions form and you can take it from there. I know they’re looking for stories between 5,000 and 15,000 words long and they want stories on pretty well any subject except erotica or historical themes. The idea is that these will be a kind of ‘coffee-break read’ or a ‘holiday read’ – so the brief is to write something entertaining, gripping and intriguing.
Be warned you won’t make a lot of money, but they will pay the writers they use a small one-off fee and if you’re chosen you will see your work in print – this might appeal to the new writers out there, perhaps? Either way this is a great opportunity to get to know a new and exciting publisher in the early days of their development.
They have a date for ending submissions: 1st march 2013 – they won’t be asking for/accepting submissions after that date – so you need to contact them quickly.
You can email them at this address:
Good luck. Let me know on my blog how you get on.
